Countdown begins: The final day for candidates to conduct their campaign activities will be tomorrow.

ECP has declared Feb 6-7 period a pre-poll silence, strictly prohibiting activities like rallies, media appearances

Tomorrow, February 6, marks the final phase for candidates throughout Pakistan as the official conclusion of the 2024 election campaign approaches at midnight. As time winds down, candidates are employing last-minute efforts to influence voters across the nation in their favor.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has designated the period following February 6 and 7 as a pre-poll silence duration, strictly prohibiting campaign activities such as rallies, public meetings, and media appearances. This quiet interval aims to provide voters with a moment for contemplation before they cast their votes on February 8.

Despite the impending deadline, political fervor remains elevated across the country. Candidates are anticipated to utilize the remaining hours for final rallies, public addresses, and door-to-door canvassing. Social media is abuzz with fervent online campaigns as parties and candidates make their ultimate appeals.

However, once the clock strikes midnight tonight, the political activity will come to a halt. Any candidate found violating the ECP’s directives and engaging in campaign activities during the pre-poll silence period will face stringent consequences, potentially leading to disqualification.

With the campaign period drawing to a close, attention now shifts to the pivotal polling day. Over 128 million registered voters throughout Pakistan will have the chance to exercise their right to vote and choose their representatives for the 16th National Assembly and various provincial assemblies.

The pre-poll silence period serves as a reminder of the significance of a serene and contemplative atmosphere leading up to the elections. As campaigning concludes, both voters and candidates will have an opportunity to pause and reflect on their choices before the crucial decision on February 8.
