LAHORE: The provincial Apex Committee, co-chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, convened on Wednesday to comprehensively assess the security landscape in the province and the measures in place to counter diverse threats.
During the meeting, participants scrutinized a comprehensive security blueprint for the upcoming general elections on February 8, encompassing both pre and post-poll phases. The deployment strategy for police, rangers, and the army in three tiers to ensure foolproof security and handle various contingencies was deliberated. Discussions also included the installation of CCTV cameras at polling stations and the secure handling/transportation of ballot papers.
The committee affirmed its commitment to enforcing the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Furthermore, the committee commended the collaborative efforts of all security agencies and forces in thwarting multiple terrorist attacks on police stations, including the recent incident in Dera Ghazi Khan. It expressed determination to continue working in unity to achieve common goals in accordance with the National Action Plan (NAP).
