BAJAUR: The candidates supported by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Bajaur have officially initiated their election campaign by taking an oath on the Holy Quran to stay loyal to the party and its founder, Imran Khan, upon winning their seats.
The PTI-supported candidates for the sole National Assembly seat and the four provincial assembly seats in the district have initiated their campaign by organizing separate meetings in their respective areas and taking the oath of loyalty.
Anwarzeb Khan, the PTI nominee for PK-20 and a former provincial minister, began his election campaign by convening a gathering of party workers at his residence in the Raghagan area of Khar tehsil.
The meeting was attended by numerous PTI workers and locals. A participant mentioned that Anwarzeb Khan took the loyalty oath in response to concerns raised by some party workers, who questioned how they could be certain that he would not change allegiance after winning the elections.
“I am standing like a rock with the party and its founding chairman Imran Khan. I would not have faced such detentions and cruelties if I were not standing like this,” stated Mr. Khan during the meeting.
After taking the oath on the Holy Quran, participants not only assured him of their full support in the elections but also pledged to actively participate in his election campaign.
Similarly, PTI former lawmaker Guldad Khan and his elder brother Engineer Ajmal Khan initiated their election campaign for PK-22 and PK-21, respectively, in a joint gathering held in their native Barang tehsil.
Both candidates took an oath to remain loyal to the party and its founder, Imran Khan, after winning their seats in the elections. They urged party workers to stand with them in the elections with sincerity and commitment for the larger interest of the party.
Additionally, PTI former MNA and aspirant for the lone National Assembly seat in the district, Gul Zafar Khan, along with candidate for PK-19 Dr. Hamidur Rahman, launched their election campaign at a gathering in Mamond tehsil.
Hundreds of people participated in the gathering, where both candidates took an oath of loyalty. During the event, activists called for efforts to persuade those party aspirants participating in the elections as independents to withdraw in favor of PTI-backed candidates.
