RAWALPINDI: The supreme leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz are scheduled to address a public gathering at the General Post Office (GPO) square in Murree on Monday afternoon.
For the NA-51 constituency, encompassing Murree, Kotli Sattian, and Kahuta tehsils, the PML-N has endorsed Raja Usama Ashfaq Sarwar, son of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, the former PML-N Punjab chapter vice president.
Following the decision of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to refrain from the 2024 polls, the PML-N has granted the ticket to the younger son of Raja Ashfaq Sarwar.
In order to spearhead the campaign for Raja Usama Ashfaq Sarwar, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have chosen to visit Murree. The primary political gathering of PML-N occurred on January 27 in Rawalpindi, where former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed voters and supporters.
Despite recent snowfall and rain in Murree, the party asserts that a substantial number of people will extend a warm welcome to their leaders at GPO Chowk.
Former MNA Tahira Auranzeb informed Dawn that a considerable number of women from Rawalpindi are expected to participate in the public meeting. She stated, “In winter, most residents of Murree shift to Rawalpindi for a two to three-month stay. We managed to bring all the voters in NA-51 who temporarily live in Rawalpindi to give a rosy welcome to our leader.”
